HTR1A

An animated music video for the song HTR1A by Conquering Animal Sound from their 2014 EP Talking Shapes.

Working from a brief of "not having Conquering Animal Sound in the video for once", I produced a completely animated video. HTR1A makes use of several very strict constraints: there is only one continuous shot for the entirety of the video; the scene is almost entirely unlit (but for two or three dim light sources); the camera is the only actively motive element in the video; the camera is entirely static for the first half of the video; the entire video is black and white. Visually, the video is extremely dark and grainy, lit almost entirely by ambient occlusion alone, with heavy photonic noise simulating human night-vision (aka scotopic vision).

HTR1A premiered on the music blog Goldflakepaint, with the support of Conquering Animal Sound's label, Chemikal Underground.

I previously collaborated with Conquering Animal sound to make a video for their 2011 song Tracer, some live visuals for concerts, a remix, and a promotional video for their album On Floating Bodies.
